The Bharatiya Janata Party took action against two of its own leaders for making disparaging comments about the Prophet Muhammad. Nupur Sharma was banned from the party for 6 years while Naveen Jindal was banned from the party. Qatar, Iran and Kuwait are said to have summoned the Indian ambassadors and raised objections in relation to derogatory comments about the Prophet. Filmmaker Vinod Kapri has investigated this.

We reported that on the controversy over the Napur Sharma declaration, BJP General Secretary Arun Singh tweeted and said that such an idea is not acceptable to the party, which hurts the feelings of any religion or sect. After this, BJP decided to kick out Naveen Jindal and suspend Nupur Sharma.
