Former Punjab Congress Speaker Navjot Singh Sidhu will work as a clerk at Patiala Central Jail. Sidhu, convicted in the 1988 Rose Rage case, will be trained for this for three months. In these three months of training, Navjot Singh Sidhu will be taught how to shorten lengthy court decisions and also how to collect jail records.
How much will Sidhu receive daily? According to the jail manual, Sidhu will not be paid for the first 90 days. After completing three months’ training, wages will range from Rs 40 to Rs 90 per day. His salary will be decided based on his ability and the earnings will be deposited into his bank account.
Sidhu will work from the barracks itself: According to the jail official, former Punjab Congress Speaker Sidhu will be working from his barracks as he is a high profile prisoner. They were told that jail-related files would be sent to his headquarters only and that they would not be allowed to leave the cell. According to jail officials, Sidhu started the job of secretary since last Tuesday. He will work two shifts from morning to afternoon and from three to five in the afternoon.
Improved barracks security: Meanwhile, the security system inside the barracks where Navjot Singh Sindhu has been held has been increased. 5 guards and 4 inmates have been asked to watch over Sidhu. Meanwhile, a medical board prepared a diet chart for Navjot Singh Sidhu. Sidhu suffered from obesity and a metabolic disorder. The diet chart hasn’t hit the jail yet. Sidhu currently follows a diet of salads and fruit. He had refused to eat the dal roti saying that he was allergic to wheat.
Which is the whole thing: Gurnam Singh Ri, 65, died in the road rage case. The court found Sidhu guilty of the crime of intentional harm in this case in May 2018. After which he surrendered at the Patiala Magistrate Court on May 20. The barracks where Sidhu has been kept.
