Manoj Bajpayee is one of the veteran Bollywood actors. Manoj appeared in Ram Gopal Varma’s movie ‘Satya’ in the year 1998, after which he became famous overnight. Within days of its release, he became one of the acclaimed actors of his day.
I met Amitabh while intoxicated: Recently Manoj Bajpayee in an interview with Lallantop recalled his first meeting with his idol Amitabh Bachchan. The actor said that the first thing he met was Amitabh Bachchan in the early days of his career and at that time he was intoxicated.
Manoj said he was drinking alcohol in the car outside with director Ram Gopal Varma and critic Khalid Mohammad. At the same time, Amitabh Bachchan was watching his movie with his family, so he was very nervous, because he had never met Amitabh before. Manoj said, “My hands and feet were shaking at the thought of Amitabh watching my movie with his family inside.”
“As the movie was about to end, Ram Gopal Varma got out of the car to meet some people. He asked, will you come? I told him no sir, I’m very nervous, I won’t be able to show my face. After this, Manoj laughed and said that Khalid did a trick to call him out of the car and as soon as he got out of the car, he locked the car. “He Said go, go and meet Amit ji. There’s no point in you sitting here, he’s your hero.”
Manoj was very nervous about meeting his idol and couldn’t work up the courage to meet him. He then ran to the bathroom, so he could stay there until Amitabh left. But then he got a voice, Abhishek Bachchan called him by his name and congratulated him on the film.
Amitabh had suddenly appeared: Manoj said: “Abhishek started dating me and kept talking. Until then a man appears from behind, it’s a complete movie. A tall man came from behind. He is looking at me and this is Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and I was seeing him for the first time after seeing him on the screen. And that too while intoxicated.
Seeing Amitabh, ears began to ring: Manoj recalled that as soon as I saw it, my ear started to whistle. “As soon as I saw them, I really felt a hiss coming out of my ear. He was saying something, I could hear his voice, but I couldn’t understand what he was saying. Because the hiss was getting louder and there was also some intoxication.
It was asked to gather courage and embrace: Manoj said: “Amitabh was holding his hand and I was looking at his face. He hardly dared ask you if he could give you a hug. To which Amitabh said, “Hey brother, why not? He hugged me. I can’t forget that moment in my life.”
